My butane lighter won't click?

i have a butane lighter and know very little about it. it has a switchblade on it and i haven't been able to find one like it so i don't want to get rid of it. it was out of butane so i was just pressing the button to light it. after i pressed it a few times it stopped clicking and pulled back without any resistance. it won't spark and won't click i'd appreciate it if someone could help me out because i really want to keep this lighter.
