Girlfriends best friend is her ex...But.?

It goes a bit deeper.....Now I have no problem with my girlfriend being friends with her ex especially when the guy is many many states away. And they talk maybe 3-4 times a week for 5 minutes at a time so not allot.....But, here is where the problem comes. When something happens in our relationship good or bad he is the first to catch wind of it. Now I don't mind if she tells her girlfriends or family because hey she has to tell someone right? But for some reason, something inside me gets really really pissed off about to the point where I just wanna leave her......I don't like feeling this way we've been together for 3 years but I just don't think this asshole should have any idea what goes on between me and her. Not because he's her friend but because he's her EX. Now I've talked to her about this and her answer is "If you want I'll just halt all contact with him block his number from our phones and block his facebook and everything." but! I don't want to get the whole controlling boyfriend won't let you talk to who you want vibe. I guess I'm mainly confused how to handle this situation because it's totally new to me......Any help? I'm at a standstill.
